Who’s doing the “escaping” exactly? There are so many better and more suitable words, like plummet or return. The 89 minutes running time was just too short to cram and focus on each individual story of the four characters. And yet, it seemed to drag on more than it should have.

Pleasantly surprised at how much I was entertained by a movie that I thought I would have been indifferent about after watching it. For its genre, it was properly written enough to care for the characters.

The writing should and could have been much better, and should have been better than Casino Royale considering it’s from the same team of writers. But it isn’t.

That ridiculous mop on Nicholas Cage’s head is not even the worst part of this cliche-filled movie. What’s the point of remaking this anyway? And Charlie Yeung was such a huge disappointment.

Looks and feels too much like a video game without any uniqueness nor appeal. Instead it feels too much like science-fiction-fantasy, like a lame Constantine.

I received an invite to the sneak screening of Butterfly Lovers on Wednesday which I had to attend. The ticket stated 8.45pm but we were only allowed into the screen at 9.30pm. That was quite a wait without proper explanation from the organisers.

Liked the first quarter, didn’t like the second quarter, hated the third quarter, but very much liked the fourth quarter except the ending. Such a love-hate relationship.

I haven’t seen a Chinese fantasy this good in a long, long time. Nothing comes to mind even from the past decade. So it’s really about time. And though there were many things that could have been improved, like the editing which needed serious work, but I was very happy coming out of it.
