The Other Side

A new artist has caught my attention and possibly replace Jewel as my number one female artist. Perhaps it’s still too early to say that, yes, because this new artist hasn’t even released her first album. But everything I’ve heard so far are brilliant. And she’s absolutely gorgeous to boot. A chick (first time I’m using this term here) on a piano, nothing gets the heart going like it.

I just hope the songs on the album are not overly produced, like Marie Digby’s.

But it’s the lyrics to this song that flows like poetry, has greatly leaned me to her side of the fence.

The Other Side:

Thirty heartbeats from the rain
You’re a poet with a strangers name
’cause you woke up with a shattered heart
And the pieces are hard to find
In this wasted town where they’ve broken you down
And poisoned you with words.
Under painted lies that you’ve memorized
It’s a story that no ones heard

Whats wrong with this world we live in
Where everything good and bad collide
When did you stop believing
How do you know
That you’ve reached the other side?

A traveller on these streets of gold
You never meant to sell your soul but you
Find yourself re-arranged like a prophet going blind
Tired of saving yourself when there’s no one to help
And you’re fighting with both hands tied
And you’re ready to go in your heart cause you know
No one cares if you live or die

You can swallow your pride
But the river is wide
It returns you to where you have been
Back to sand on the shore
Back to heaven and war
You’re searching for where to begin
