The Mirror

During one of the power lunches, two weeks ago, there was a talk about mirror. How we look at others and how it’s actually a reflection of ourselves. I haven’t written any new poetry in a long while, they’ve been coming far in few in between, and definitely not on a positive platform. So I’m quite happy with this one.

The Mirror
take this mirror of a thousand eyes
the keeper of a thousand faces
destiny to a thousand names
possibilities to a thousand unknowns
quiet reflections of a careless mind
subtle images of forgotten memories
distinct imprints of those tired scars
a collage of innocence reminiscing the past
break the chains that bind to the universe
sing the harmonies that make this world turn
free of the inhibitions of the perceived self
mould your future to a life of your desire
the mirror shatters to a thousand pieces
a thousand journeys with a thousand crossroads
fill this empty bucket with a thousand dreams
in the face of failure is a thousand beginnings
so take this mirror and gaze upon yourself
a thousand faces of a thousand masks
search for your own in this adventure called life
because once you have found your soul
you’re just a thousand paces from a place called home
