A Playful Misconception, A Childhood's Dream

Once again, I was forced to listen to the radio as I was driving a car without a cd player. And once again, I caught a deejay that hardly made any sense that I’m feeling compelled to rant about it here.

She was giving a quiz, or so she thought.

The question was “what time was the first ever music video played on MTV”. And here she felt she needed to throw in the song title “Video Killed The Radio Star” but only managed the title in isolation resulting it being totally random.

Then she wanted to give a hint and went on to mention Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, where she confessed that she’s confused with all these Disney characters. She then told herself to “c’mon” and “get the picture straight” – whatever that may mean. After 15 seconds of ranting about her own confusion she finally decided on Cinderella and how we all know what time she has to be home; and the answer to her silly little riddle was one minute after that time.

What followed, I don’t know if it was the slip of the tongue, was her asking, “What time is one minute past twelve?” She repeated that quite a few times too like a complete idiot. Either that or she is testing if her listeners were as idiotic as she is, as if we don’t know what one minute past twelve is.

She quickly went on to announce the prize, which was a “fantastic” horse ride, and she encouraged enthusiastically to her listeners to try and win that horse ride, (and here’s where she tuned her voice higher) “like the stallion that you are”.

And this is when I give myself a big slap on the forehead and turned the damn thing off.

This pathetic channel has only one deejay that could form proper sentences, sentences that makes sense, before opening their mouths.
