Dancing with the Stars Season 5

So far, in this fifth season of Dancing With The Stars, it feels like the judges are getting soft for some reason. Most of all during last week’s Tango performed by the two screen veterans Marie Osmond and Jane Seymour.
Both ladies’ looked good waist up but waist down, their footwork just does not justify the high scores and praises that they have gotten. Jane’s mother passed away that week and Carrie-Ann shed tears while watching her Tango across the floor with not-so-convincing kicks and sloppy steps. But all judges agreed it was brilliant. Giving her a break? No, because the same praises were given to Marie who wasn’t that impressive. What’s going on?
But this week saw the fire from the judges back, well, at least more from Carrie-Ann. Some choreographies had lifts (which are not allowed for the competition) right from the very first week and I was shocked the judges didn’t say anything.
But now in the fourth week, finally, the warning was given. But surprise, surprise; this time it was head judge Len Goodman who was in a generous mood and gave them all a free pass as almost every couple came out with lifts.
This week also had the first ever Viennese Waltz category to be danced individually by each couple. I just found out that the Viennese is supposed to be the most romantic out of all the standards, as opposed to the songs played during DanceSport competitions. Kelly Clarkson’s Breakaway was used, so was one of my all time favourite songs, Iris – but they should have kept that till Helio got his posture right because that almost spoilt the beautiful routine by Julianne who was again flawless and absolutely beautiful.
This season seemed to lack pure talent in quantity, coupled with judges’ new found laid-back attitude made the first few weeks a little boring but I think it has just started to pick up.
His, watch this Paso Doble performed to the Superman theme. The choreography isn’t the best but I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of it.
