I went to the toilet four times in total today.

First time in the morning, nothing out of the ordinary.

Second time was after lunch. Not that I was scared shitless or anything like that (cos there were plenty of it lol – see what I just did there?) but before I flushed I noticed that the water was… reddish in colour. I mean, it’s not even that time of the month yet for me.

I wasn’t sure if that was really blood. Some months back I have been in and out to see a doctor at RIPAS due to a stomach condition – I kept going into the toilet. The doctor asked if there was any blood in my stool, or if I was losing appetite or having stomach aches. No were my answers to all the above.

And today, wow, all of that. And throughout the afternoon I got weaker and felt more lethargic as the afternoon wore on (helping my mom to do some stock checking with piles of papers on the floor felt really taxing just now).

Third time was before dinner. This time I checked. It’s as if the faeces were soaked in blood before peristalsis. Now I was really concerned. I was ready to go back to the doctor tomorrow.

But when I told my mom of the symptoms, she said it’s just lack of water and what we Chinese likes to call “heatiness”. She gave me some pineapple water (canned) and then orange juice.

Fourth time into the toilet was couple of hours before midnight. Everything was back to normal. Though I still feel sick and feverish. Then my mom came in and proclaimed that it could be the effects of the star fruit because her urine came out reddish as well…

Hmm…

Hi Del, I am a reader of your site from Adelaide, the silent type that reads but don’t normally comment. Anyway, I suffer from what my doctor refers to as IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). That means I go to toilet several times a day and can’t take spicy food, milk or coffee. I think it could be stress related but the last procedure I had was Colonoscopy (under GA). Apparently the doctor didn’t find anything pathologic either. After all this, my real message is, if your symptoms persist; see your doctor right away. All the best to your health, take care.

Hey Charles, thanks so much for your concern.

Actually, I have been suffering from IBS (or at least I think that’s what it is) since early this year and have been in and out visiting my doctor who also recommends Colonoscopy as the last resort. It could have been stress too, I’m not sure.

But after reliving an old back injury again, the going to the toilet few times a day stopped. Maybe cos the pain made it too uncomfortable to be bothered to come out?? lol. I don’t know.

But yea, it’s back again. Though it’s getting better, which is why I haven’t gone back to the doctor who would probably give me the same medication. Not so thrilled about that.
